Construction Alert: Hwy 12 Wayzata to Minnetonka

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted on the project website as details become available. Motorists can expect road, ramp, bridge and lane closures during construction. There will be weekend closures on Hwy 12 between Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) and I-494 before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. Click here for more information.
Lane Closures
Late April through fall: Hwy 12 is reduced to two lanes in both directions between Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) and I-494 Late April through fall; Weekly Monday through Friday: Eastbound Hwy 12 is reduced to two lanes between Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) and Shoreline Dr. during morning rush hour and reduced to one lane during evening rush hour. Westbound Hwy 12 is reduced to one lane between Shoreline Dr. and Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) during morning rush hour and reduced to two lanes during evening rush hour. A moveable barrier system will be used for most of the construction season to shift lanes during peak travel times.
Ramp Closures
June 15 through early July ramp closure
From Monday, June 15 through early July, the ramp from westbound Highway 12 to southbound I-494 is closed. The detour is northbound I-494 to Highway 55 to southbound I-494.
June 15 through late July ramp closures
Also starting June 15 and continuing through late July, the ramp from northbound I-494 to westbound Highway 12 is closed. The detour is eastbound I-394 to northbound Hwy 169 to westbound I-394.
During this same period, the ramp from westbound Highway 12 to Carlson Parkway is closed. The detour is northbound I-494 to Carlson Parkway.
Additional ramp closures will continue across the Highway 12 construction area through November.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
